Writers doing their stuff at 'The English Bookshop' Stockholm

We've been going to The English bookshop for a couple of years. Mainly I've picked up english books from Akademibokhandeln which has a huge range in the main store. But 'The English Bookshop' in Gamla Stan (now in Södermalm) is good too, (and you're more likely to find more obscure titles there) so we've often dropped in while strolling by, just to look around.

I've bought a few books there (last night I bought Dan Brown's latest novel, which has just been released, but don't hold it against me.) They have a newspaper service too, where they can print out any newspaper in the world which we did once but it's not quite the same reading the newspaper on printer paper. I mean you can read everything online anyway though I do prefer a real newspaper.

They hold reading groups every month and any english speaking authors coming to Stockholm often speak here and do a reading or two. Last night it was various poets and writers reading their pieces from a new magazine just published in Stockholm called '2/3rd's North'- a journal of international writing. It was enjoyable. Fun trying to pick out the origins of everyone's accents!

In Stockholm they used to have at least the International Herald Tribune (now International New York Times) in any pressbyrå in Stockholm. Not any more which is a shame. No english newspapers in general except in Stockholm Central station and a few others in case you're interested. The 'Weekly Guardian' is the most common to see.
